From San Luis Rey Equine Hospital:

As an essential service to the public in the state of California, San Luis Rey Equine Hospital remains dedicated to your needs.

With COVID-19 on the forefront of our thoughts, the team at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital is reaching out to let all of our clients and referring veterinarians know that we are committed to meeting the health care needs of your horses during this challenging time. Our hospital, surgical team, and ICU are staffed and fully committed to serve all horses necessitating medical attention with the highest standard of care. We are staying current on information as it pertains to COVID-19 and have implemented policies and procedures to keep our clients safe, as well as our veterinarians and staff.

We are currently taking the following measures and ask that clients help by adhering to the following :

  1. We have asked any SLREH staff and veterinarians experiencing illness/symptoms to stay home and seek medical care.

  2. If you have an appointment scheduled with your horse and you are exhibiting flu like symptoms or have recently been exposed to COVID-19, please contact our office to reschedule your appointment.   IF YOU ARE SICK, PLEASE FIND AN ALTERNATE HANDLER TO BRING YOUR HORSE IN TO BE SEEN.

  3. We are asking that you limit the number of people attending an appointment, or picking up/admitting a patient. We request that you do not bring additional people with you to your appointment. We also request limiting patient visits on all hospitalized horses at this time except in extreme circumstances. You can call (760) 726-4566 when you arrive and we will have someone meet you at your trailer to load/unload your horse so you do not need to enter the front office/facility.

  4. We want to limit people convening in our waiting room and your assistance with this would be very helpful. Dropping off your horse for its appointment and picking up once finished, or waiting at your truck and trailer will help minimize social contact.

  5. If you have an appointment, we will practice good safe physical distance and minimize person to person contact.

  6. We have increased our cleaning procedures and will continue to do so after every appointment.

  7. Please wash hands and/or use provided hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting our facility.

As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we will do our best to keep you informed of any further changes while continuing to care for your horses with the same high standard of care that you have come to expect. Thank you for being understanding and helping to keep our team healthy so we can continue to be here for all client and patient needs.

Be safe. Please call with any questions or concerns- we are available 24/7. We will all get through this together,

The Team at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital
